Dancers Unlimited Competition Team

The DU Competition Team gives students an opportunity to showcase their talents on stage in front of judges. Competitions are highly competitive and DU strives to provide routines that showcase the dancers’ performing abilities and technique. DU teams spend a tremendous amount of time together in training and at competitions, and develop special bonds.

Goal

It is the goal of DU that dancers in competition will use proper technique and perform those skills for which they have been correctly trained. Ultimately, we hope to provide dancers a fun way to perform, develop relationships, and showcase their talents, but it is also our goal to develop discipline and great work ethic.

Team Selection

Students wishing to be a part of the DU Competition Team must participate in a tryout/intensive or individual assessment with the DU Staff. Students will then be place on teams based on their ability, size, age, experience, and group needs.

Groups

Teams will be divided by jazz, tap, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, etc. Team members will be chosen to create a line, large group, or small group. Student have the option to be a member of all teams for which they are selected, but are not required to participate in every team for which they are chosen. Students choosing to opt out of a team must drop their smallest groups first. (Example: A student is chosen for a line, large group, and small group that only wishes to do two routines must opt out of the small group.
